Thainos, last night. Tho moderato ticket was returned by a fair majority. There are a fow small returns to come, but the result cannot be altered.

Masterton, last night,

At the licensing committee election today the moderates were successful in securing all the seats, with ono exception, which is filled by an independent. Several well known local prohibitionist candidates wore not returned.

Wanganui, last night.

The licensing poll resulted in tho election of four moderates and one opponent of the moderates. The figures were : Menli 2204, Bignell 2165, Burnet 2155, liichavdson 2128, Bassett 1947. There were eleven candidates; five moderates, five opponents, and one independent. - / Auckland, last night.

For the Grey Lynn Licensing Committee three moderates and two prohibition' ists were elected.

New Plymouth, last night. The licensing committee election to day passed dll quietly, and fair interest was taken in it. The prohibitionists ran five candidates pledged to ten o’clock closing. The moderates also ran five candidates, the result bemg that three prohibitionists and two moderates wore elected, the former heading the poll: Rev. Bennett, Maori missioner, 1288 ; Ambury 1255, Brash 1193, Newman 1176, McKellar 1117.

Christchurch, last night. The election of the licensing committee for Christchurch was held to-day. The polling was not heavy, and very little interest was taken in the election, which resulted in tho return of the old committee of moderates, with tho substitution of T. H. Davey, M.H.R., moderate, for J. C. Maddison, who retired. Mr Blaekbourne, who headed the poll, was on the ticket of both parties. The figures were : Blackbourne 5502, Davey 3922, McClatchie 3597, Hamilton 3548, Trent 3482. These were elected. The other candidates polled as follows : Erwin 3250, Flesher 3159, Triggs 3147, Harris 2978, The figures for Hurunui and Selwyn were not complete.
