"A DEATH TRAP.”
Per Press Association AUCKLAND, last night.
Ihe Coroner held an inquiry into the death of Mrs Elizabeth Stokes, who had taken a fatal dose of carbolic acid from an ale bottle, apparently in mistake for stout. In summing up, the. Coroner said that leaving poison about in this way in a nice, clean, tempting bottle, uulabelIcd, was certainly putting a deathtrap for somebody. Chemists were compelled by law to clearly label hollies containing poison, and any person who put poison into another bottle should immediately place the poison label on it. The jury found that deceased was accidentally poisoned by carbolic acid, taken in mistake for some harmless beverage.
