ELECTORAL ENQUIRY.

At tho King inquiry evidence was given showing that Christina McLeod, whose name King yesterday stated was transferred from the City to the Eden roll at her own request, never applied for a transfer, and that her son, finding her numo was removed from the City roll, had put in an application for re-instatement. An examination of the listproduced by the temperance electoral office of names allogod to havo been wrongfully omitted was resumed. In most cases King produced papers showing that tho applications were duplicates of names already on the roll, were rejected in the police reports, or wore on another roll. In some instances it was claimed that two persons of the samo name existed. Further evidence in these cases will be heard. Mr Reid, solicitor, urged that tho_ Registrar should correct technical errors in the applications. King retorted that Mr Reid’s friends kept the enrolment claims back and rusbed thorn in on tho last day, embarrassing the Registrar.

At to-day’s Bitting of the Electoral Commission appointed to enquiro into the charges mado against John King, Eogistrar of Electors, evidonce was called by complainants in refutation of the statement made by King on the previous day to the effect that a certain elector’s name *' had been expunged from the city roll because she had been transferred to Mount Eden at her own request. Tho eleotor stated in evidence that she had made no Buoh application. W. Kiohardson, temperance reformer, gave evidence as to his inability to got his

name ou the roll prior to tho election. The examination of tho lists of names /* -was continued, but as several had been entered in error it was agreed that the remaining lists should bo checked so as to obviate loss of time. \ The Commission will not sit to-morrow, but will resumo at half-past ten a.m. on Thursday.
