COMPLIMENTARY BANQUET,
By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. A banquet was tendered by his constituents to Mr A. W. Rutherford, member for Hurunui, at Amberley last night. Mr Hall-Jones, Minister for Public Works, was present. He left for ' South this morning. CITIZENS’ BALL. The officers of the squadron now' in port were present at the citizens’ ball in Can. terbury Hall to-night, and the men were entertained at tea and a smoke concert in the Colosseum. CHILDREN VISIT WARSHIPS.
To-day over 2000 school children from various Canterbury schools were taken to Lyttelton and shown over the warships, four of which were, for the convenience of the children, berthed at the wharves. Tomorrow the pupils from the town schools will visit the vessel?.
