MartoD, last night. Two boys, charged with sotting tho Crofton School on tiro, camo boforo the Magistrate on Saturday. Accused’s own statement ahowod that tho act was premeditated. While playing truant they gathered dry gotßß and used paper from an old exorcise book found in the school ground. Tho accused both pleaded guilty, and were committed for sentence to tbe Supreme Court at Wanganui on May 25th.

About two O’clock this morning tho Mount View School, about four miles from Marton, was destroyed by fire. All tho contents, including 30 years' records, woro destroyed. The origin is unknown. Tho police have been informed.
