A rumor was current hero that General Hutton had resigned owing to political interference with his reorganisation of defences. General Hutton .emphatically denies any intention to resign. He states that at no period since he assumed command has there been so much hope of the successful issue of his scheme of reorganisation as now.
Brisbane, March 22. Hamilton, of New Zealand, won his heat in the diving contest. Prospects of .the complete break up of the drought are more hopeful than ever. Good rains still continue.
