ST PATRICK’S DAY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The principal holiday attractions to-day were the Hibernian sports gathering at Porirua and races at Horowhenua. About 2000 persons attended the Hibernian sports. The 440yds handicap was won by O’Connor, and the half-mile handicap by J. Odlin. The most exciting event of the day was a tug of war, in which a team from the Gear Meat Company’s works defeated a team of bluejackets from the Boyal Arthur. The wrestling event was won by M. Hogan. The harbor excursion attracted a large number of the public. A strong wind blew all day in tbe city.
