TROUBLE IN BOOT TRADE

Per Press Association. Christchurch, last night. Some trouble has arisen between Maine Bros., boot manufacturers of this oity, and ihe Operative Bootmakers’ Union. The latter allege that the firm committed a breach of the award by dismissing a unionist and giving preference of employment to a non-unionist. A special mooting of the Union will be held to morrow evening to consider the matter. The firm state that they were under the impression that the man they took on was a unionist, aB he said he belongod to the union in England. They complain that the union sprang a surpriso on them, and that they were never approached in the matter.
