In the Arbitration Court, an application of the Southern clothing manufacturers, brought under the Southern award, was considered. Messrs Ciarrow, secretary of the Otago employers, I-Icrctis (of the Kaiapou Woollen Company), and Isaacs (of the New Zealand Clothing Company), representing the Southern manufacturers. Mr Ilalley represented the Southern Unions.- His Honor said the Court now had jurisdiction in
this matter, and lie called upon the Southerners (o submit evidence. Mr Templar, representing the Auckland manufacturers, submitted that the Court had no jurisdiction, as the currency of the award expired on January 3. His Honor ruled that the award continued in force according to the statute until a new award was made.
WAIROA, yesterday. The section bought at Ntihaka township sale yesterday by Mr A. Poyzer has been handed hack to Mr G. Walker.
WANGANUI, last night.
The Collector of Customs visited Feilding the other day to inspect a, local brewery, and take stock of the contents. Several barrels represented as containing beer were found to
be full of wafer, and a prosecution will result, if, being a breach of the Beer Duties Act to represent waiter ae stock of beer.
