A FARTHING DAMAGES.

The Supremo Court civil sittings opened to-day. An action for libel was brought by Andrew McLaren and Chus. Griffiths, mine contractors, Earangahako, against Antonio Ycaliek, a minor, claimed for JIIOO, tho allegation being that Yealick stated to mine manager and to a contractor that plaintiff stolo some quartz. Judgo Conolly instructed the jury that tho statement to tho mine managor was privileged, and as Yealick denied having made thi statement to anyone else, ovidcnco was led. The jury found a verdict for tho plaintiff, awarding a farthing damages.
