INFECTIOUS DISEASES HOSPITAL.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night,

The Christchurch Hospital Board has asked the City Council to authorise it to spend £IOOO on an infectious diseases hospital at Bottle Lake. This action is taken on account of the report of tho district health officer that there is a largo increase in the cases of scarlet fever, and accommodation at the main hospital in Christchurch is insufficient. The Council refused to pass the sum, as a Bill will be brought before Parliament next session to give entire control of these things to the Hospital Board, and it was considered the emergency was not so great as to demand immediate attention.
