By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night The cricket match between the Englii rnon and tho South Island team coi moncod yesterday on Carisbrook, in fino v/oather and a perfect wicket. When stumps wero drawn tho visitors appeared to have tho garno well in hand. Winning tho toss, Warner and Burnup took first striko, and 60 was up for the first wicket. Tho next three fell somewhat rapidly, hut at 80 Taylor and Bosanquet became associated, and carried the total to 220, despite several changes in the bowling. Taylor gavo a chanco to tho wicket-keeper before scoring, and Bosanquot gave two chances, successive balls, when his score was at 28. Taylor took his score to 105, and the gross total was takon to 014 before tho English innings closed. Ongloy, tho West Coaster, did not appear to trouble the batsmon very much. Fisher, who was not given a socond chance, eamo out with tho boat average, whilo Callaway’s solitary wicket cost 87 runs. Tho South Island team mado a miserable display, and sovon wickets wore down for 32 in less than an hour, nono of the batsmon shaping with much confidence. Ongloy kopt his end up manfully. Tho scoros woro:—
