ADDINGTON MARKETS.
SMALL YARDING, BUT ADVANDED PRICES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. At the Addington market to-day, only 85 head of cattle were yarded, and, on account of the small entry, prices showed an advance. Steers sold up to £lO ss, and heifers to £8 17s 6d ; cows, £5 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d ; extra heavy, £lO 7s 6d j beef, 27s to 803 per lOOlbs. Fat Sheep.—An average yarding met with a good sale as regards freezing wethers, current prices being well main-
tained. There was little demand, however, for freezing ewes, and sales showed a further reduction, a remark which also applies to all superior sorts. Freezing wethers brought from 16s 3d to 18s Id, maiden ewes 13s 6d to 15s 6d, best butchers’ (extra prirnej 14s to 17s 9d, medium quality 11s to 13s 6d, other sorts 9s to 10s 6d.
Fat Lambs.—There was an entry of 5000, including some of excellent quality, and for primes! there was a slight advance on last week’s prices noted, while generally prices were : —For freezers, best sorts, I4s to 15s 2d; a few extra heavy, 15s 8d to 17s 2; lighter weight, 12s 6d to !3s6d; graziers’and butchers’ sorts, 9s upwards. Store Sheep.—l4,7oo were penned, mostly lambs and wethers, and the range of prices was forward. Lambs sold from 9s 8d to 9s lid; others, from 5s 9d to 8s 8d ; four-tooth wethers, from 13s 9d to 14s 6d ; two-tooth, from 10s 5d to 13s 4d ; young ewes, 13s 9d to 14s 8d ; merino ewes, 6s 7d. Pigs.—The entry was small, and last week’s prices maintained. Baconers sold from 45s to 655, equal to 5d per lb; porkers, 30s to 40s, equal to from s}d to 6d per lb ; store, 15s to 30s; suckers and weaners, 10s to 15s.
