THE TAYLOR-CARRINGTON COMPANY.

At the Theatro Boyal last evening the Taylor-Carrington Company produced the sensational drama “ Never Despair.” The attendance was not as good as the merits of the play deserved, but the audience was a most appreciative one, and the

piece was received with much enthusiasm. All members of the Company wero well received, Mr Charlie Taylor especially giving an excellent portrayal of the character of Horatio Spriggins. Tho piece was excellently mounted, and from start to finish went without the slightest hitch.

This evening a special ladies’ programme is announced, when the favorite drama, “Is Who Guiltless,” will be presented. Referring to the Company, and especially to Miss Carrington’s representation of the part Gabrielle, a Southern exchange says : “ The work put in by the various artistes showed that they form as clever a combination of Thespians as has ever toured in Australia. Miss Ella Carrington was more in evidence than on the previous evening. As Gabrielle, the noble, selfsacrificing wife of M. Roland de Moray, she had a difficult and pathetic role to play, and throughout she gave a studied delineation of the character. In the scene where Gabrielle first meets Robert Burel, her mother’s love son, when he tells her his life's storyjand demandslmoney for his mother's letters, and where she takes the burden on herself which subsequently causes all the trouble, Miss Carrington’s acting was such as to place her in the front ranks of her profession. In subsequent scenes she played the part of the wronged wife, the loving daughter, and the distraught parent and wife witn an intensity which showed that she almost identified herself with the character. All through it was a finished piece of acting, and showed that the artiste had made a thorough study of the character.”
