THE TAYLOR-CARRINGTON COMPANY.
i ; “ THE SHAUGHRAUN.” j There was a large attendance at the I Theatre Royal on Saturday evening, when , the Taylor-Carrington Company staged [ the over-popular play “ The Shaughran,” Boucicault’s stirring melodrama, which never fails to strike a sympathetic chord in the hearts of playgoers, and the enthu--1 siasm displayed at Saturday night’s performance was evidence of this. The Company entered fully into the spirit of the piece, of which they gave a praiseworthy representation. Mr Charles Taylor played his old part of the rollicking and kindhearted Irishman, Conn, with all his accustomed vivacity, his exuberant humor pervading the whole performance. Miss Ella Carrington effectively depicted the artless nature of Moya Doolan, Conn’s sweetheart. As the brutal and uncouth Irish “squireen,” Cory Kinchela, Mr Charles Sequin pourtrayed a thankless character with considerable ability, and Mr Ward Lyons acted forcibly as the cringing informer, Harvey Duff. Mr W. Wallington represented the English officer, Captain Molyneaux, with great success, and Miss Winifred Davies appeared to advantage as Clare Fiolliott. Robert Fiolliott, the fugitive, was satisfactorily played by Mr Edwin Green, and the part of Arte O.Neal, Robert’s sweetheart, was well filled by Miss Gertie Payne. Mr C. N. Keegan, as Father Doolan, made a good priest, and Miss Marion Willis was adequate as Conn’s mother, Mrs O’Kelly. The remaining characters were :—Riley and Sullivan (Kinchela’s Chickens), Messrs G. Paget c and F. Meukin; Bridget Madigan, Miss s May Seymour; Sergeant Jones, Mr F. a Coape. The piece was well mounted and s the music excellent. r To-night, ’“ Never Despair” will be t produced.
