Eight hundred deaths occurred at Haokikuera and Marakau alone. Eight whitos were drowned. Only those who climbed tall trees escaped. The French are provisioning Fuamotuo and other islands. [BX TELEQBAPH. —FHEH3 ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, last night. The Mauapouri brought news from the Friendly Islands to January ‘29, much later than the tidal wuvo reported by cable. Tho Friendly Islands evidently escaped. News has been received hero from the Cook Group to January 14, aud it is evident those islands also escupod the tidal wave.
