SOUTH AFRICA.

MR CHAMBERLAIN’S TOUR. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Capetown, Jan. 28. A. Wolmarans and A. D. Fisher, Boer delegates, who visited Europe, are to be permitted to return to South Africa. Mr and Mrs Chamberlain had a great welcome at Mafeking, Sir Hely Hutchinson, Governor of Cape Colony, Sir A. Lawley, and General Baden-Powell participating. The Jesuists, a Mashona native band, travelled 800 miles to join in the welcome. The Afrikander newspaper Onsland, commenting on Lynch’s sentence, refers to the National Scouts fighting for Great Britain’s pay against their own people, and states that what in one case is punished with death in the other is glorified and rewarded. Afrikander newspapers praise Mr Chamberlain's speeches at Litchenburg and Ventersdorp as wise, healing, and courageous utterances.
