A SUICIDE.
(Per Press Association.) THAMES, last night
The body of a man in a decomposed condition, with features almost unrecognisable, was discovered near the cemetery close to the Thames by Borne boys. The police searched last night, but the boys were too frightened to show the place, and in consequence the body was not lound till this morning. It is believed to be that of Birdwood, a bushman from Tairua. The throat has* been cut .with a razor, held in the hand. His mother states that sineo an accident he was strange at times. He left a a fortnight ago to visit his sister’s grave. She missed a razor from his heme. Though anxious as to his whereabouts she never thought he had committed suicide.
Later.—At the inquest on the body of William Birdwood, found with his throat cut near the cemetery, a verdict of suicide while temporarily, insane,, was returned. Deceased met with an accident some months back which affected his health. Tins death of his favorite sister induced melancholia. After a visit to Ins sister’s grave he retired to a gully and cut his throat,
