SALE CONTINUES UNTIL 11 P.M. By Telegraph—Press Association— Christchurch, last night. The third of this season’s wool sales opened to-day, when the record catalogue of nearly 20,000 bales was offered. There was a full attendance of buyers. Bidding was somewhat irregular, being brisk for merino and specially fine half bred and quarter bred, and very keen for strong crossbreds and long wools, but languid for inferior and medium good half breds. The competition for pieces, looks, aud oddments was rathor low and erratic except for lots wanted by colonial woollen mills, which brought very full rates, Compared with the December sales merino fine half bred was without change ; good medium and inferior half-bred Ad to -Jd lower ; long wools and crossbreds, especially shady sorts, a marked and distinct advanco of Ad to lid per lb. The sales continued till 11 to night, and will be resumed tomorrow. The following was the rango of prices : —Superior Merino lOd to llAd, medium 9d to lOd, inferior 7d to 9Ad, crossbred superior 8d to 9:}d, medium 7d to Bd, inferior Gjjd to 6yd, crossbred superior 6d to 7d, medium and inferior 4d to 5Ad, longwool superior 5d to 6yd, inferior 4;jd to Gd, piecos and bellies, good G : jd to 6:jd, inferior 2Ad to locks Id to Byd.
