THE BUSH FIRES.
.(Per Press Association). WAIROA,’ yesterday. A settler at Tarewa dug a hole and placed his wife and family in it when the hush fires were raging.
The fire passed through the Nikau grove, an acre in extent, at the Ilot Springs Morerc. Fortunately it destroyed only the undergrowth.
