SHOCKING DISCLOSURES.

A WOMAN:S DEATH. By telegraph—Press Association— CHRISTCHURCH, last night, Some shocking disclosures were made at an inquest at West Oxford to-day on the body of Elizabeth Curran, wife of John Curran, licensee of the Commercial Hotel at West Oxford. The woman was found dead in the hotel kitchen on Saturday night, and the evidence showed that she had been drinking heavily. Curran tried to get li.er out of the kitchen to the bedroom, but found her too heavy, and left her there. Later on a servant went in, and found the body lying on the floor, life being extinct. Nothing was placed under the womanrs head, and she was just allowed to lie on the kitchen floor. A medical man stated that the woman died from alcoholic poisoning, but that the fact of being left lying on the floor without care or attention was alone liable to cause death. The Coroner commented on the callous behaviour of the husband. The jury returned a verdict that the husband showed great negligence in leaving his wife lying on the floor in the state of health she was in, and not using sufficient precautions to prevent her obtaining drink.
