McLeod and Roderick slowly crept on the opposing craft, lessening the distance gradually from three-quarters to a quarter of a length, and as they were endeavoring to get on even terms the boats passed the post, Kirk and Somervell securing a hard-fought victory by less than a quarter of a length.
