[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Dunedin, last night.

Sixteen additional cases of scarlet fever were reported to the Health Officer to-day. One death from fever is reported from the Peninsula, and ono from dipthoria from St. liilda. , Rain has been falling throughout the afternoon and evening, and farmers are becoming anxious about their crops. Eliza Motcalfo and Esther Saunders were committed for trial to-day, on a charge of alleged illegal operation on a young woman.
