The closing of the old year and the opening of the new was celebrated at the Tarnheru Library rooms uy a social and dance which was pronounend to be one of the most successful held there., The attendance numberabout fifty couples, and dancing kept up until daylight. The de--itions were beautiful, and the yas brilliantly illuminated with light. The floor was in ■class order, and the music was ■llent, Miss Moore presided at piano, and Mr Miller played the extras The catering was earned out in a capital manner, the committee in charge of that department being Messrs T. Sharp, W. Williams, 8 Mason, Jamieson, Duncan, OharPilcher, Sullivan, and Re d. o - s were Messrs Town and miller. •et was sung by Miss Reid and * Reid, and the following coatn’songs: Messrs A.
