EARTHQUAKES.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Fielding, last night. A slight shock of earthquake was felt oro at 11.42 this morning. Stratford, last night. A sovoro and prolonged earthquake shock was felt hero at 11.45 a.m. to-day, its apparent direction boing north to south. Now Plymouth, last night. An exceedingly Bharp shock of earthquake was oxporienced at 11.42 this'morning. No damage is yet reported. Wanganui, last night. A prolonged earthquake shock was felt this morning at 11.50, tho vibration lasting over half aminuto. Hawora, last night. A sharp shock of earthquake was felt at 11.63 this morning. Tho vibration lasted a minute. CHIMNEYS THROWN DOWN. [By Telegraph—l'ross Association.] Now Plymouth, last night. Several chimneys wore thrown down by the earthquake, and soldo damage is also reported in tho shops through articles being capsized, and in \ rivate houBOS through ornaments boiog smashed. The Bhock was preceded half an hour earlier by a light shock.
