THE FAVORITE WINS THE CUP. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. For tho Auckland Racing Club’s Summer Meeting, first day, the weather was showery during the early part of the day, but was afterwards fine. About 15,000 persons wero present. The totalisator receipts for the day were £21,510. Tho results were : Trial Handicap.—Putty 1, Despatch 2, Arcade 3. Scratched : Romeo, Musker dale, Queen Anne, Bastion. Won by half a length. Timo 1.31, diva. £4 19s and £ll 3s 6d.
Great Northern Foal Stakes, of SOOsovs, 6 furlongs.—King Log 1, Rose Shield 2, Sturshoot 3. Scratched : llopa and Vivaridel. Won easily by a couplo of lengths, Sturshoot three lengths away third. Time, 1.181 ; div., King Log, £1 10s. Kamo (15a) and Rose Shield were bracketed. AUCKLAND CUP, 1500 sovs., 2 miles. Siege Gun 1 Mars ... ... ... 2 Bluejacket 3 Scratched : Tresham. Coronet, who broke down at the finish, mado the run ning to the straight in company with Mars, but in the straight the favorite came away, and won by a bare length. Time 3.33:, 1 ; divs. £L 16s 6d and £1 9s 6d. Handicap Hurdle Race.—Papatu 1, Rufus 2, Inchcapo 3. Scratched : Taubei, Princess of Thule, Miss Drury, My Lord. Won by two lengths. Perseverance and Marino fell. Tune 3.52 : divs. £4 14s 6d an 1 18s Gd.
Railway Handicap.—Orloff 1, Hohoro 2, Pallas 3. Scratched : Formula and Camille. Won by three-parts of a length. Time 1.161 ; divs. £2 16s and £2 3s 6d. Nursery Handicap.—Agripus 1, Te Aroha 2, Cyrus 3. Scratched : Stcbbington, Delania, Rose Shield, Alba Rose. Won by a clear length. Time 1.5 1-3, divs. £O3 8s and £1 14s 6d.
Pony Cup Handicap.—Bell Colo 1, Annoyed 2, Sonica 3. Scratched : Seatonia and Lucette. Won by eight lengths easily. Time, 1.311. Divs,, Bello Cole £2 7s 6d, Annoyed £1 11s 6d. Christmas Handicap.—Golden Vein 1, Formula 2, Putty 3. Scratched: Maroon and Gold and Queen Anno. Won by half a length. No time taken. Divs., Golden Vein £2 3s 6d, Formula £1 13s.
