LODGE MONTROSE, NO. 722.
INSTALLATION OF OFFICERSA very successful gathering of Masoh.o brethren was held in the Masonic Hall, Childers road, last ovening, when Bro. K. T. Seymour was installed as Worshipful Master of Lodgo Montrose. Ttie ceroinony was impressively performed by Bro. William Canon, Provincial Grand Lodge Society, assisted by Bro S. R. Williams, P.M., and Bio J. It. Littlo, Director of Ceremonies. An efficient orchestra, under the leadership of Bro A. T. Hookey, considerably enhanced tho pleasuro of the proceedings. Tho following officers were installed :—I.P.M., Bro. T. Ritchie ; R.W.M., Bro R. T. Seymour ; S.W., Bro J. W. Fairlic ; J.W., Bro A. G. Beere ; Chaplain, Bro S. R. Williams, P.M. ; Treasurer, Bro R. N. Jones ; Secretary, Bro J. R. Little, P.M. ; S.D., Bro E. (J. Fairlie ; J.D., Bro H. Sandlant ; 1.D., Bro W. Sandlant ; Organists, Bros C. A, Burrow and D. R. DeCosta ; Stewards, Bros. J. Roland, A. Kirk, and C. Fraser ; Tyler, Bro, J. Harrop. At the close of the ceremony, an adjournment was made to tho lower room at the hall, whero an excellent supper was provided by Host Craig, and after full justice had been done to the good things provided a number of toasts were proposed. *• The King and Craft ” was proposed by the Worshipful Master, as also was the toast of “ The Grand Lodges,” the latter being responded to by Bros. Skeet (E.C.j, Carron (S.C.), and Hookey (N.Z.C.) The toaßt of “ The Worshipful Master ” (Bro. Seymour) was proposed by Bro. T. Ritchie, who enumerated Bro. Seymour's many good qualities, stating that he was certain that under his direction the Lodge would be sure to prosper. Itro. Seymour made suitable acknowledgement. The toast of “ The Past Master ” (Bro. Ritchie) was proposed by Bro. S. Williams, who expressed pleasure at seeing Bro. Ritchie present that evening after so trying an illness as he bad recently undergone. Bro. Ritchie thanked members for their kind welcome.
Bro. Little proposed the toast of “ The Trustees,” and remarked that they were now in the happy position of being clearof debt in respect to the hall, which was now the joint property of the three Lodges. Bro. Skeet replied on behalf the trustees, giving a detailed account of the efforts made during the last five years. During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs Barlow, Hookey, H. DeCosta, Sawyer, Allan, D. DeCosta, and R, Johnston, The gathering terminated with the siDg. ing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
