Melbourne, Dec. 19. The Budget shows a deficit- of .£’953 000. The Government propose new taxation to the extent of a quarter of a million, to make a levy on the Accident Fund and Railway Stores Susponso Account to tho extent of AT 10,000. One hundred and eighty thousand pounds will lie raised by lowering the income exemption to . ono ' umlrc-d pounds, and the abolition of it altogether on ineoi - over £SOO. At tho alter sun. the rates'will be fivcponcc and ainepeneu on incomes and property respectively, with further proportional increase beyond £‘looo. Probato duties uro expected to realise an additional .£70,000. The exemption will be reduced from £IOOO to .£‘loo. The rate will be increased from two to three per cent, on estates from £SOOO to .£‘lo,ooo in value.
