Thore were Quito a number of passengers also for Awanui, including Mrs Hamilton ami family, Mr Erie, representative for Messrs Wiseman and Sons, Auckland, and ’Mr Smith, of tho Sea View Hotel. Amongst tho visitors at present at Awanui aro Mr Uarton, S.M., jvho arrived to day to hold tho usual Quarter.y court, also Mcsin O. Lysmir and Mr L. Ileus. Mr Bar-;, also arrived in Awanui to day. Mr MoLacklund and Mr McCullough of To Araroa aro also hero. TUI’AKOA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Wo are getting a great spell of fine weather, which has enabled the sheepfarmers to get shearing through before Christmas, and most of tho wool shipped, and with a rising market value should mako most sheepfarmers spend a merry Christmas. I hear there is every prospect oi a butter factory being started at liki Tiki. This is a very central position, and I don’t think there should bo any difficulty j in gotting 500 cows ior a start, arid I feel i convinced tlioy would soon double that i number as tho surrounding district is ad- i inirably suited for cattle. Wo only want < moro land put in tho market and there would soon be creameries all through the hush district laying between Port Awanui and To Araroa, which is some of tho best country in Poverty Bay district. Tho whoio district is onvelopcd in smoko from busii fires, and the burns havo beon exceptionally good this season. The want of rain is being felt by householders who (lopend upon tanks for their water supply. J
