There was a fairly good muster oL howlers and their friends at the Gisborne green on Saturday, and several interesting matches were played.- The green was l in fairly good condition and some capital play was witnessed. Lewis Peitio ’ Beerc Harris (skip) 21 Hires (skip) 21 At a meeting of the Committee of the Gisborne Bowling Club, held on Saturday morning, the Selection Committee’s appointment of Mr lan Simson as skip of the champion team w a s unanimously approved, and he was requested to pick his team and submit the names to the Committee fur a.|>proval. Mr Simson lias proved himself a capable skip in the inter-club matches, and was in a great measure responsible for the victory Wliataupoko secured in the recent pennant contests. As Gisborne at present holds the championship, we hope to see a strong team sent away and the trophy retained tiy the Club. The team whiel Ml he selected to-day will probabl. ,i----elude Messrs Massey and Martin, ijoth of whom are at present in first-class form. The President of the Club, Mr J, A. Harding, will accompany the team to Palmerston North.
