ALL NEGOTIATIONS SUSPENDED By Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright Sydnoy, Dec. 12. A majority of delegates of tho shipping conference have returned to their homes. At present all negotiations are suspended. Tho owners, replying to the men's contentions, reasserted that there had boon no improvement in trade. At prosonl steamers aggregating 01),0U0 tons were idle owiDg to shrinkage in trallic. To maintain the ruling wages would stitle coastal trade. Dealing with the suggestion that the owners should accept tho conditions established by tho Now Zealand Arbitration Court, they pointed out that New Zealand conditions had always been about ten shillings a month ahead of Australian rates. The award of tho Court, whilo it would reduce Australian wages 10s a mouth, would givo other concessions that would more than compensate the loss of money. SEAMEN'S ULTIMATUM EXPECTED TO-DAY.
