PETITION TO HAVE LICENSING POLL DECLARED VOID.

'(Per Press Association)^ Wellington, last night. Sixty-six electors of Newtown have lodged a petition at tho Magistrate’s Court, praying to have the recent licensing poll for that district declared void on account of certain irregularities in connection with tho mannor in which the voting was conducted.

Tho Crown Solicitor has informed the Inspector of Polico that, in the absence of prescribed penalties, it is useless to proceod against porsons who distributed mock ballot papers during eleotion day.
