.(Per Press AUCKLAND, last night. Mr George, Director of the Technical School, wrote to the Board of Education.. suggesting that cookery classes should be established for girls aud wood-work classes for boys, at three centres in the city. He estimated that the scholars that could attend each centre would total 1137 uoy.s and 1034 girls. Mr Isaac, manual training inspector, estimated that these centres could be built, and equipped at the expense of the Education Departs ment. Mr George considered that wellqualified teachers could he obtained from England. Taking the low estimate of "'OOO boys and 000 girls, the sum earned for the linst year by the Education Department's allowance would be X 1350.

The report was adopted and referred to the Finance Committee.
