IMPROVED PRICES FOR SHEE

There were small entries in all classes except fat cattle, at the Addington market to day. The attendance was good and business was brisk. Fat cattle : 233 came forward, and though the sales opened easy, they closed at about last week's prices, up to 36s per 1001 b, and for other sorts up to 30s per 1001 b ; steers, X 6 lGs Gd to Xl2 15s, t-iic bulk of the yarding selling at from XlO to Xll 10s ; heifers, X 6 15s to XU 17s Gd ; cows, Xu 15s to XlO ss, and up to XU 12s Gd for extra good. Store cattle ; There was only n medium entry, principally made up of good kinds of young stock, for which there was a good demand. Yearlings sold from 28s to 335, 15 to 18 months cattle X2 5s to X 4 ss, 2-yoar-old steers X 5 7s Gd to XG 2s Gd, 21 to 3-year-old heifers X 5 to Xu 7s Gd, dry cows X2 10s to XI 10s, dairy cows XT 15s to X 9 15s.

Fat sheep: There was tho smallest yarding for some time past, those offered consisting principally of fat crossbred owes with a few pens of good to prime wethers, nearly all of which wore out of wool. There was strong demand from the start of tho sale, which continued throughout, and notwithstanding the higher rates freezing buyers were operating very freely, prices consequently in sorno instances showing an improvement on last week’s sales, the rise being most noticeable in good quality of owes. Shorn freezing wethers sold from 16s Gd to 19s lid, woolly do. 19s lOd, shorn freezing ewes 15s to 18s, butchers’ crossbred ewes (shorn) 12s Gd to 14s Gd. prime heavy weight 18s 3d to 22s Gd, inferior Us to 13s, woolly merino wethers 14s 3d to 16s 3d.

Fat Lambs; 581 came forward, and 193 were taken for freezing at 13s Gd to 15s 9d: 891 by butchers, at 18s to 15s 9d. A few extra good sold up to 18s 9d. Pigs: There was a medium ontry. Baconers sold from 47s Gd to 545, equal to 4:;d to 5d per lb ; porkers, 28s to 38s, equal to Od per lb ; stores, 16s to 32s ; suckers and weaners, 12s Gd to 15s.
