By Telegraph—Press Association. Oamaru, last Dight. The Returning Officer made an official declaration of the result of the parliamentary poll from the front of the Courthouse yesterday afternoon. The Minister of Lauds, returning thanks, promised to follow the policy of the late Sir John McKenzie. Referring to the statement of the Oamaru correspondent of the Otago Daily Times, re the votes polled by Messrs Brown and McPherson, Mr Duncan said that the correspondent must have a strong imagination, seeing that both those candidates were more or less for the Government, and the sole Opposition candidate did not meet with much encouragement.
