PROHIBITION.
OFFICIAL DECLARATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Ashburton, last night. The official declaration of the poll shows that prohibition was carried by three-fifths and 101 to spare. It is ex* pected that an attempt will be made to upset tho election on the grounds of illegal erasure from the roll, voting by minors, plural voting, and impersonation.
CARRIED AT NEWTOWN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. The Returning Officer for Newton offi daily announces the result of local optioD poll for that electorate. The official figures are : For continuance 1873, reduction 2776, no-license 3007. The number of voters is 4982. This gives a majority of 17 for prohibition.
PROHIBITION CARRIED IN BRUCE ELEVEN VOTES TO SPARE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. After a recount of votes it was officially notified on Saturday that prohibition had been carried in the Bruce electorate by eleven votes. Prohibition will thus prevail after June 30 next, over a stretch of country from Invercargill to Henley.
