At tho meeting of tho City Council tonight it was resolved that, in viow of tho present high rates, fire insurance companies bo invited to appoint a suitable tiruo whou a deputation of tho Council moy wait upon them for the purpose of urging a reduction in tho present tariff. Tho speakers contended that tho rates wore too high, especially in view of the improved fire appliances in tho city.
