FIRE INSURANCE.
ATTEMPT TO GET BATES REDUGED. By; Telegraph—Press Association— Auckland, last night. At tho meeting of tho City Council tonight it was resolved that, in viow of tho present high rates, fire insurance companies bo invited to appoint a suitable tiruo whou a deputation of tho Council moy wait upon them for the purpose of urging a reduction in tho present tariff. Tho speakers contended that tho rates wore too high, especially in view of the improved fire appliances in tho city.
