MR CRAWFORD AND MR PATERSON.

(To tho Editor of tho Times,)

Sir,—As the Prohibition campaign appri sclies its climax, and ns tbo actual practical work increases, I bavo not the necessary time to answer Mr Crawford’s lotter, besides, Mr Editor, it seems to me that thcro is nothing at all in it that needs answering. Personally I have enjoyed the controversy, and havo to thank Mr Crawford for tlio kindly and generous way ho has spoken of me, and if at times I havo mayhap said sharp and stinging things, I have not tho slightest spark of bitter fooling to him, nor to Mr Lysnar, nor to any engaged in the controversy. I havo dono and said what I havo dono and said undor tho strong constraint of duty, and havo novor conscioudy exaggerated or misrepresontod anything. T may have erred through ignorance, for I do not lay claim to infallibility. I leave that to othors, but in everything I havo sought to debato tho main point at issue as calmly and impartially as possible. I have not fought for victory ovor Mr Crawford, but for what I believed to bo tho cause of suffering humanity, the cause of suffering womon and starved children. I have fought and mean to fight to tho bitter end against a traffic that debases, degrades and destroys manhood, curses, crushes, and unsexes womon, and doos moro than any other traffic to hinder tho triumph of God’s kingdom on earth.—l am, etc., , .James G. Paterson’.
