Large audiences met Sir V,\ R. Russell at Mohaka on Friday, and at W,,iroa on Saturday. He was well received, his speeches being mainly o;i the Loan Bill. He criticised the Government borrowing propensity, railway maladministration, the Native land question, and gave .satisfac'.orv replies on local matters. A vote of thanks and confidence was carried un-animoui-lv. Alter a block of four months, the bar was successfully opened on Sunday afternoon. The Jangaroa came to the wharf oil Monday at noon. \ serious trap accident occurred on Jlondav evening. A party was going down the hill from the Heads in a waggonette with two horses. The brake refused to act. and the occupant.were thrown out. Mrs Johansen had her leg and shoulder-blade broken, and was taken to the hospital. Mrs Open had her collar-bone broken, and sustained other injuries. The other occupants were severely bruised and scratched.,
