ISLAND FRUIT
STRINGENT INSPECTION APPROVED OF.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night.
At a meeting of the Executive of the Auckland Fruitgrowers' Union tho following resolution was carried, “ That seeing considerable feeling is being expressed in regard to the stringency adopted in the inspection of fruits imported from the Islands in order to avoid tiie introduction of tho fruit ily, this committeo hogs to assuro tho Agricultural Department of its hearty approval of the thoroughness of the inspection imposed, and hopes it will be uniformally observed throughout the colony. That tho action of Mr W. F. Massey, M.H.R., in having introduced
into tho Cook Islands Bill of last session a clauso providing for the inspection of all fruits imported from thoso Islands in a similar manner to importations from other countries, is strongly approved, it being considered that tho danger in introducing, principally tho fruit fly, into New Zmland orchards is quite a sufficient warrant for tho adoption of tho clauses.”
