SLY-GROG SELLING

[by TELEORAFH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, last night. At Balclutha to-day tho hearing of th®_ charges of sly - grog selling against Jas. Smith Vial was proceeded with. The principal witness was a man named Collier and his wifo, who stayod at Vial’s, and gave positive evidence of a sale. Defendant denied this, and swore he knew from the first that tho Colliers were informers.

Mr Cruickshank, S.M., said there would be a conviction, but deferred sentence until further cases.

The second charge against Vial was dismissed, tho witnesses denying that any whisky had been sold to them-
