EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATION

At tho annual meeting of the Otago Employers’ Association it was stated that there were 11U employers of members representing nearly 700 U employees, about 56UU of whom are adult workers. The president, Mr Meitb Ramsay, and the vicepresidents, Messrs J. C. Thomson and IV. Scott, were re-elected. A CAUTIOUS MEMBER,
Mr J. A. Millar, M.U.R., addressed a meeting in the Alhambra Theatre this evening, and was well received. He said he was a general supporter oi the Government policy, but in tuo matter of borrowing ho thought they should go easy. He thought the colony could safely borrow at the rate of a million a year, but not beyond that. He advocated the loan money being devoted to reprodnei, jo works, and transfers from the Consolidated Fund being used for non-productive. Ho thought the defence expenditure should bo reduced. A vote of thanks and confidence was carried unanimously.
