ROYAL PROCESSION

The weather was dull, but dry, for yesterday’s Royal procession in South London. Thirty thousand troops lined the two miles of route traversed. The King, wearing a marshal's uniform, accompanied by the Queen, drovo in tho State carriage, tlie Duke of Connaught and Prince of Wales riding beside the carriage.
The London County Council presented ail address to the King at Trafalgar Square, where the Boer Generals DoWet, ■De la Key, and Botha, who are the guests uf Mr John McDougall, one of the members of the County Council, witnessed the procession.
The warship Terrible’s crew, who were stationed at St. Martin’s Church, were given an immense reception as they marched the streets.
The Lord Mayor met tho procession at Temple Bar, and it proceeded thence to Guildhall, where the party partook of luncheon.
Messrs Balfour, Chamberlain, and other members of tho Ministry, and leaders of the Opposition, and Foreign Ambassador were present. No speeches were ma lu. Madame Albuni led tho singing of the National Anthem. There were boisterous scenes of enthusiasm as tho procession made its way through the Soutli of London, the streets being lavishly decorated. Replying to an address from the Southern boroughs, the King expressed interest and sympathy with the efforts to solve tho social problems and ameliorate the conditions of the poor. Mr Howarth Barnes', Mayor of Battersea, did not accompany tho other Mayors presenting addresses to the King. FIRE IN GUILDHALL TOWER. SPEEDILY EXTINGUISHED BY THIRTY-TWO ENGINES. While the last guests were leaving the Guildhall the bursting of a pipe, owing to the extreme pressure of the gas used for lighting, caused an outbreak of fire in the Tower above the main entrance.
Thirty two engines speedily extinguished tho fire.
