DEATH UNDER CHLOROFORM

By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, last night. An inquest was held iast evening in regard to the death of Airs Agnes Graham, aged 27, the wife of a farmer near Temuka, who died in a private hospital in Timaru in the afternoon, under chloroform, while being operated on for cancer of the breast. Deceased was examined in the usual way for soundness of the heart, and no weakness was detected. She had 'chloroform four months ago without ill effects. Dr Reid, the operator, and Dr Thomas administered the chloroform with more than usual caution. The jury found she died of failure of the heart under chloroform, and no blame was attributable to the doctors, as every precaution had been taken.
