Mr Barlow asked if it would not be advisable to affiliate with the New Zealand Association, pointing out that by doing so that they would have a very prominent inducement before them, and that was that they might possibly be able to arrange to havo Lord Hawke’s team visit this district. Mr McDonald said that he failed to see the advisability of affiliating with the New Zealand Association, and ho thought by affiliating with the Hawke's Bay Association that they would likely stand a chance of being represented against Lord Hawke’s team.
Mr Barlow said why should they not try and be represented in their own district. explaining that they had only to guarantee the small sum of JEI2O, and he
[ was sure the citizens of Gisborne would only bo two pleased to assist them in ' every way. 1 Mr Hawkins said that it was a splendid idea, and that by obtaining a visit of such prominent cricketers, that it would arouse an enthusiasm in the gloiious old game, vhich was at present lacking in U.e district.
After considerable discussion on the matter, Mr Barlow stated that ho would communicate with the New Zealand Association as to the chance of having a visit from Lord Hawke’s train, and then on a receipt of a reply would he able tu settle the point.
