RETURNED TROOPERS,
Per Press Associati in. CHRISTCHURCH, last night, There are about 25 returned troopers in Christchurch at the present tune, who are in .search of work. A number of them attended at the City Council Chambers to-day, in order to lay their cases before the Mayor, hut as His Worship was out of town, arrangements have been made for an interview on Monday.
A TRADES HALL. ...The Trades and Labor Council is taking steps to erect a 'trades Hall. 'The money will be obtained from the Trades Unions, and the property will belong to them. Sites have been sul>mitted to the Council, but a selection has not, been made yet. MARINE ENQUIRY.
A Magisterial enquiry into the capsizing oi the schooner ilonga, in Pelorous .Sound, was held at Lyttelton today. '1 he master, Peterson, was exonerated and his certificate returned. It was stated that, since the accident the spars of the vessel have been reduced.
