By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Berlin, Oct. 16.
It is officially annonneed that Berlin official circles will not take notice of the Boer Generals’ presence. The police have forbidden the Generals’ carriage to enter tho Brandenburg gate of the city to pass the British Embassy in the Wilhelm Strausse.
London, Oct. 16. De la Key’s claim to French descent has chilled many German pro-Boers, who are accustomed to describe the Boers as lowGermans. Berlin, October 17. The Generals’ journey from the German frontier resembled a royal progress. The carriage way was strewn with flowers. Their entry into Berlin coincided with huge crowds of workmen going to their homos, who gave the Generals a tremendous ovation. There was no official reception, and no anti-British demonstration. . Generals Botha and DeWet emphasised the philanthropic character of the mission and loyalty to Britain, and dwelt pointedly upon the racial ties that existed between the Boers and Germans. Professor Siemering presented 200,000 marks collected during the past two years. He asked the Generals to assure their I countrymen of tho eager desire of the Germans that tiie Boer nation may not perish. Few prominent people were precont, excepting the Court Chaplin Stoccker. A banquet was tendered to the Generals. ] Owing to the death iu his family DeWet probably returns home shortly.
