THE CONTEACTOES DISCLOSED,

Tho Press this morning says it is in a position to stato that the New Zealand and South African Steamship Company is in reality a combination of tho Federal Steamship Company and Houlder Bros. These firms are working in connection with tho South African Cold Storage Co., which has tho Imperial contract known as Bergl’s contract, for supplying meat for South Africa. Under their agreement the contractors are obliged to get as much as possiblo of tho supplies from the colonies, and, owing to the Australian drought, are compelled to draw on Now Zeuiand for frozen meut. They have already tnado largo purchases from various firms in the colony. Jt is stated on good authority that only a small proportion of tho produco that is boing sent to South Afri-a at tbo present timo from Now Zealand is consigned on producers' account, most of it having been purchased in tho colony by tho contractors and othors,
