BAKERS’ CONFERENCE

By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. A conference of tho United New Zealand Bakers’ Association is sitting here. It was decided to recommend all master bakers of the Unions to endeavor to arrange a weekly settlement with customers, to bo treated as cash transactions, any booking over a week to carry |d per loaf extra. A committee was appointed to endeavor to arrange for an exhibition of bakers’ and confectioners’ output anda appliances, to be held at Christchurch at an early date. It was also decided to appoint on organiser for the Union, to visit all parts of the colony. PROHIBITIONIST CANDIDATE.

Mr A. D. Hassell, who is contesting tho Kaiapoi seat against Mr Buddo, addressed the electors at Kaiapoi last night. He announced himself as an Independent Liberal and Prohibitionist. He received a vote of thanks.
