MORGAN TO THE RESCUE,

Mr Pierpont Morgan has induced the coal-owners to arrange with President Roosevelt for the appointment of a Commission to deal with all Unionist and uonUniouist disputes, provided work is resumed immediately. The Commission’s decision will be binding for threo years.

The coal-owners stipulate that tho Strike Commission shall consist of au army or naval engineer officer, an export mining engineer, a Supremo Court Judge, an eminent socialogist, and a person familiar with mining and selling coal. Tho coalowners assert twenty thousand miners are
working. Mr Mitchell says he is poworless to accept the proposed Commission until tho Miners’ Convention has been consulted.
Tho nowspapers anticipate difficulty, owing to tho non-recognition of tho Miners’ Union.
